Libraries have looked after written research assets for centuries and now tackle the challenge of adapting their function to making data reliably accessible and re-usable.

Dear Colleagues,
We are currently organising a session titled "Data Professionals: Bridging the Gap between Educational Provision and Workforce Requirements" at the SciDataCon 2018 (5-8 November in Gaborone, Botswana). The conference is part of the International Data Week and co-located with the next RDA plenary. We would like to invite you to participate in the session with a lightning talk and/or a poster.

At P11 we also discussed a possible project aiming to collect case studies for engaging researchers with data management. I also mentioned that on 24 May 2018 we are organising an event at TU Delft (Netherlands) which could be a nice opportunity to exchange practice and kick off this work. I’m excited to share that the Digital Library Federation’s eResearch Network (eRN) will be opening enrollment on March 19. In case you’re unfamiliar with eRN, here’s a bit of info:

The eResearch Network is a six-month program that brings together teams from research-supporting libraries to strengthen and advance their local data management & digital scholarship services.

RDA L4RD IG Election Results

Congrats to Marta Teperek and Juliane Schneider, who will assume the reins
of our RDA Libraries for Research Data Interest Group at the plenary
meeting in Berlin in March! They garnered the largest number of votes in
different geographic regions. We were fortunate to have a very strong
slate; many thanks to all who were nominated & everyone who participated by
voting (180 votes total!)
